THE HISTORY OF THIS BUSINESS...

ww2 hit the american economy like no war before or since...there had always been 'carpetbaggers' roaming the americas...many rural homes invited them in with expectation and an offer of a family meal. but the sudden numbers of injured and displaced vets after the 2nd war changed the dichotemy and way these folks learned to survive, sell and travel. they (the self elected managers) realized that they could house groups of vets into cheap flophouses for cheap rates...keep on the move to avoid authorities and "burn out" an area...and because these guys were vulnerable and hungry...pay them enough to eat...and pocket the rest...the best of both worlds.
